Verdict

A record of no wins from 25 starts over hurdles doesn't advertise the claims of Storm Breaker but this is an ordinary contest and James Lambe's nine-year-old was not beaten far at Cartmel two weeks ago. Pickworth needs forgiving for a poor effort at Wetherby last time but would go close on his best form while Parson's Punch won at Perth last Sunday, though carries a penalty here. Patriot returned to form over a longer trip at Wetherby last month and should make his presence felt again but, including Alexander Voy's claim, the top weight is conceding 24lb to MARDOOD. Chris Grant's charge has won twice at Sedgefield since the turn of the year and, though only third at that track last time, will be suited by the better ground here - he gets the vote.
