Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

A very open handicap can go to Princess Grec, with her biggest dangers seen as possibly Spectacular, Littleton Valar, Royal Blazer and Muckle Flugga. The selection comes here on the back of two very good runs - a win at Hereford followed by a narrow defeat at Uttoxeter from a two-pound lower mark than today. That rates as very good form in relation to most of her opponents and she has to go well. Dual Flat winner Spectacular has form enough to go well from his current mark, and Littleton Valar won well at Cartmel last time but, given that he's been competing in sellers before that, it will be interesting to see how he copes with a six-pounds rise in the ratings. Royal Blazer is one to watch out for in the betting as he has hinted at ability and should strip fitter for his seasonal return, while Son Of Snurge is often placed and has place claims again. Much as Northern Echo won at this track last time, that was a modest race run at muddling pace. Finally, from a good stable, Muckle Flugga is another to watch out for in the betting but, overall, in a race that lacks strength in depth, Princess Grec has better credentials than most and gets the vote.
