Verdict

Pyjama Game was put up 10lb for two autumn successes and now finds himself having to concede weight all round in this marathon slog on soft ground. He was a fair fourth behind Carrigdhoun at Carlisle last time off his new mark and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the step up in trip. Matmata De Tendron may be 13 but his last four wins have all arrived here and he certainly will be one that will be plugging on when others have cried enough as his latest success amply demonstrated. He's a solid each-way shout off bottom weight but the choice is MERLIN'S WISH. With only four starts to his name under Rules, he must surely improve on efforts to date which have hitherto shown him to be a potentially decent stayer in the making. He gives the impression he'll stay the trip and receives the vote. Irish raider Cilliseal has place claims.
