In depth

Verdict

Winning bumper CRACKED REAR VIEW found the heavy ground against him on his debut for Kim Bailey over hurdles at Newcastle in December but made no mistake when sent to Doncaster for a novice hurdle earlier this month. The assessor hasn't had much to go on and time may tell a mark of 120 is on the lenient side. Desert Cry has been alternating between hurdles and fences but hasn't won for over two years and is probably still on a high enough mark. Captain Redbeard looks a real threat as, after an easy victory at Sedgefield, he found the going too heavy at Carlisle before another comfortable victory on the latter track. He's 10lb higher but with conditions in his favour he should be prominent. Lord Wishes and L'aigle Royal fought out a finish at Wetherby in October with the former just coming out best and the winner can confirm the form as he's since won over fences on this track.
