In depth

Verdict

DR LIVINGSTONE may be able to cover his petrol costs by getting the better of Hold Fast and Gilbarry. The selection sets the standard on form so should be able to concede weight to rivals in this class and put his Kempton disappointment behind him. That was a strongly contested race in Sunbury where he was amongst many that paid the price for chasing too strong a pace in testing ground and he can make amends on this better ground if ridden with more restraint. Hold Fast also disappointed last time when failing to complete at Catterick but there was plenty to like about his victory at Musselburgh where he accounted for Cheltenham Festival also-ran Meath All Star by 6 lengths. That form is rock solid and he rates a live danger. Coastley has something to find on the figures but could challenge for minor honours as may Gilbarry who has shown promise in a couple of starts over hurdles since landing a bumper on debut. He may be more at home in handicap company though and preference is for Dr Livingstone.
