In depth

Verdict

My Turn Now is an exciting recruit to chasing and should have too much class for these where Contact Dancer and the controversial rivals Ballyvoge and Lord Samposin are likely to be contenders for minor honours. Formerly a high class novice hurdler, luck has not been on the selections side this year. He was touted as an outside contender for major honours in the staying hurdle division last season but only appeared on the racecourse on three occasions, performances which were disappointing. He has the size and scope to make a chaser and connections obviously want to get some chasing experience into before his summer break. While he has questions to answer, he is selected to make a winning chasing debut. Contact Dancer is a maiden after 15 attempts at chasing and while he should pick up a prize sooner rather than later today is unlikely to be the day with My Turn Now in the field. Ballyvoge and Lord Samposin re-oppose after that controversial contest at Wetherby where many believed Lord Samposin was not ridden to achieve the best possible placing. It was a disappointing effort from Ballyvoge, whose form was head and shoulders above Lord Samposins' coming into the contest and who has since disappointed. My Turn Now should prove too good for these on this his chasing debut.
