In depth

Verdict

El Picador didn’t really improve much at Ascot after a first run at Newmarket, though the step up to a mile might help. Knowing never threatened when third at Lingfield last month but the yard is going great guns and he’ll know more today. JAMES PARK WOODS ran well for a long way at Doncaster last month in a race that’s already produced winners. He changed hands for 240,000gns in the spring and will be expected to start repaying some of that sooner rather than later. The market may be the best guide to debutants Al Thoorayah, Thorny Time and Times Past.
