Verdict

Plenty of these have been hard to win with so it is only a slender vote that goes to Armagnac, who is selected over Golden Dixie and Little Edward, who have both shown enough lately to merit a second look in the betting this afternoon. So too does Nivernais, who was a convincing winner last time and at Windsor and should be in the shake up with a similar effort today. He does have a 5lb higher mark to overcome in a better race though and it will be a very good effort from him if he can carry it off. The percentage call is to suggest that he, like quite a few of the rest, has already been found out at this level and others make more appeal. None more so than Armagnac, who has run consistently well without getting his head in front this season. Granted a little luck in running, that could change this afternoon and, as the warm spell of weather will have livened his spirits, Armagnac is fancied to finally gain some compensation in a race where there is plenty of deadwood that became tiresome to sift through quite some time ago.
