In depth

Verdict

There are a few in-form horses on display here and of them we like TRACHONITIS who can score from Kames Park and Quinsman. Shane Kelly was aboard our pick when he scored in cheeky fashion at Southwell, barely appearing to step out of second gear, and as he's won here before there are no concerns about the surface. The seven-year-old has been raised 6lbs for that victory last time but the extra weight wouldn't have stopped him that day and we're hopeful of a repeat here. Kames Park has been revitalised of late and must be respected, racing off a mark just 3lbs higher than when scoring last time. That victory at Dunstall Park came on the back of one over this course and distance, and it'd be no surprise to see this quirky sort oblige once more providing there is a good gallop on. Quinsman is another who impressed when scoring last time, despite being carried wide by another horse late on. The first three were covered by just a short head that day so the form is possibly not the strongest, but the way the horse cruised into contention that day was impressive and there may be more to come, whilst similar comments apply to Starburst who completes the list of last-time winners. That effort over this trip at Wolverhampton was visually impressive and the margin could've been even greater, so plenty will side with this unexposed mare and she was hard to overlook. Eseej is an artificial surface specialist who should run another solid race but this looks a hot contest, whilst Golden Games looks worthy of a market check on his first run in five months. Respeldent Ace has won here and over the trip, Mustajed is a solid sort who can provide a benchmark for the form whilst Whooshka looked a promising sort on debut before disappointing subsequently. This is a good end to the card and one that may go to Trachonitis.
