    Verdict

On all known form, many of these look to have very little chance of playing a prominent part here. Amwell Star has shown bits of form but only at an average level, a similar comment applying to Blossom Whispers. Angel Delight, bred by Mercy Rimell, is slowly progressing and should continue to do so and possibly represents the each-way value. Champagne Lil's fourth at Wincanton last time was reasonable, but no better than that. Clifton Mist has won two of her last three, one of them a seller and both at Taunton, but the overall level of form is not outstanding, by any means. Dame Fonteyn, who has been tried in blinkers, ought to be able to handle this trip. The best of her form gives her chances in what is, overall, a fairly modest race. Scratch The Dove is lightly raced, seems to prefer this trip and is another with claims. Madge Carroll won well at Huntingdon but then, from a mark of 96, was held in sixth at Doncaster. However, overall, she too must also be considered. Kali des Obeaux has to be the benchmark for the form and is very likely to be popular with punters. She gets our vote too as the step up in trip - she won over further than two miles in France - should suit and, in fairness, a mark of 105 for her handicap debut is reasonable.
