      Verdict

Capla Crusader is the only course and distance winner in the line-up and doesn't look badly treated with his rider's claim taken into account. The front-running Persian Sun found 1m2f too short at Newcastle after a narrow defeat over this track and trip but Noble Fox is still a maiden and continues to climb the ratings without winning. GOLD STANDARD gained a surprise victory under today's rider at Wolverhampton a week ago despite the trip looking on the short side. A 5lb rise may not be enough to prevent a quick follow-up over a more suitable trip. Bird To Love was another surprise winner at Chelmsford but it didn't look a fluke and she is also worthy of consideration.
