In depth

Verdict

LAKE WINDERMERE, not seen since landing a weak Newmarket maiden in July, can win on her handicap debut with Provence and Carmenero looking the main dangers. Strongly supported in the morning exchanges for that Newmarket race, Lake Windermere did show signs of greenness by hanging on the climb to the finish. The second has since landed a weak Warwick maiden but the suspicion is that the selection may prove herself better than an initial rating of 76. Provence broke her maiden tag at the sixth attempt at Salisbury last time, looking to improve for the step up to seven furlongs. Carmenero is exposed but has dropped down the ratings. He has not scored since June of last year but indications are that a win might not be far away judging by his second over course and distance last time. Without Prejudice attracted a large amount of support last time at Newmarket and flattered to deceive. Better was clearly expected and he should show more today.
