In depth

Verdict

Proud Times carries a penalty for last week's success over 1m6f at Southwell but Star Alliance can race off the same mark as when third over track and trip last month. HOONOSE failed to land a hat-trick in a higher grade handicap at Lingfield last time but Ryan Moore's presence suggests a big run is expected back at this level. He's preferred to Steely as the latter steps up in trip but the dark horse is lightly-raced five-year-old Gunboat, fourth at Thirsk on his first start for Ed Dunlop and likely to improve.
