Verdict

High numbers have a big advantage here in large fields on the round course. One who fits the bill is front-runner Border Edge, who is well placed in stall nineteen. He hasn't won for over a year, but he still retains his enthusiasm and is only 5lbs higher than his last winning mark. There are plenty of dangers including northern raider Scramble, who also likes to race handily. He is well drawn just three off the rails and looks sure to give a good account. Course and distance winner Free Option is beginning to look well treated, but he does need things to go his way. With plenty of horses in this who like to race prominently, he will get the sound pace he needs and he will be difficult to keep out of the frame, while others to note include the consistent Labrett and handicap debutante Danehill Prince.
