In depth

Verdict

Castara Bay can defy topweight, with Pivotal Truth, Garden Party and Lawyers Choice the ones to give him most to do. Castara Bay came good at the 12th time of asking when beating Tufton in a Leicester claimer recently, making rapid headway to score by three-lengths in the end. He did tend to hang right in the closing stages, so the fact that he drawn in stall 12 will help his cause, and as he is still well handicapped compared to last year, is worth chancing to follow up. Pivotal Truth handled the Polytrack well when opening her account over seven-furlongs at Wolverhampton nine-days ago, and may not be badly treated, so can give the selection most to do. Of the others, the lightly-raced Garden Party has first-time blinkers to sharpen him up, while Lawyers Choice lines up in some form, having won two of her last three starts, the latest over track-and-trip. She has it to do from stall number one though, and we would rather side with Castara Bay.
