Verdict

Ultra competitive this, with IL GRANDE MAURIZIO picked to land a four-timer, getting our vote ahead of Commander Cave and Little White Lie. The selection won on his British debut here last month following a prolific spell in Italy, both on turf and the all-weather. We'll get an idea of how good he really is after racing in this company, his toughest test to date. His other run here was over 7 furlongs, while all his Italian successes came over a mile. Commander Cave won here recently when having the advantage of the rail, and he wanted a good pace which he got too. This one is likely to be similarly run, and Richard Hannon's runner deserves plenty of respect. Little White Lie, who could be heading off to Dubai, has had a cracking year. Three wins and four places in his last seven runs show consistency, and he'll be well supported too. On paper this looks like a cracker with a number of strong contenders, but we predict an Italian job coming good again, with the selection being Il Grande Maurizio.
