In depth

Verdict

The Gatechecker won a Naas handicap in January and has been given a break since unseating his rider two out in a lucrative event at Leopardstown in March. Thomond is 1-21 over fences and has been raised 2lb for finishing second at Roscommon but he's invariably thereabouts and should get into contention as should Cahirconree, who was having only his fourth start over fences when impressing at Tipperary. Hard To Call is returning from a long break and making his handicap debut over the bigger obstacles but he could be well in and fitness shouldn't be a concern. ROCK ON FRUITY produced his best run for some time here last month and gets the nod over this longer trip with any further rain enhancing his chances.
