Verdict

Aasheq looked a certain future winner when narrowly beaten by U S Army Ranger on his debut in April of last year but has now been a beaten favourite in his last four starts, three of them when odds-on. He was having his first race since being gelded when running poorly at the Curragh last month so shouldn't be given up on just yet. BIRDS OF PREY was beaten just over a length into second by Wings Of Eagles here in August when odds-on. He didn't reappear until last month and will have come on for the outing, especially as he didn't get the run of the race. He should win this if back to last year's form though Artistic Melody, in first-time blinkers, and Breeze, who didn't stay 1m2f at Roscommon, are likely threats and Sometimes A Fox made a very encouraging debut at Dundalk in December.
