In depth

Verdict

Dalhaan, who turned in an improved performance last time to be good second, looks the answer to an open maiden, and can maintain John Dunlop's winning form. Roger Charlton's Dedicate has shown little in two runs to date and is opposed, while The Queen's Beautiful Dreamer is out of Flight of Fancy, who was second in the Oaks and she is best monitored in the market. Maria di Scozia ran well to be astaying on second at Newmarket, and finished ahead of Gravitation that day who was fourth, and there seems no reason to believe the placings will be reversed on similar ground. Dalhaan seems to be improving with racing and ran a blinder to be beaten less than a length behind a Luca Cumani hotpot at Goodwood. Doing all his best work at the finish that day, Dalhaan looks ready to get off the mark.
