Verdict

CHIC THEATRE can give likely hot favourite Abbreviate plenty to think about in receipt of 7lb. Kim Bailey's four-year-old won easily on his second start over timber at Southwell having only been beaten half-a-length on his debut at Warwick. But David Pipe's charge beat a subsequent hurdles winner by 10 lengths in a bumper at Plumpton in February and was far from disgraced in a hot contest at Cheltenham in October when only weakening inside the final furlong – he is bred for jumping. Ex-pointer Handsome Sam has his first run since May but is worth monitoring.
