In depth

Verdict

The battle for the jockeys' championship could be the feature of this contest, with Kieren Fallon on board Phi and Frankie Dettori on newcomer Seeking An Alibi, and we think Fallon will reduce the deficit this time. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt looked very green on debut, but came on plenty last time when following home Eva Soneva So Fast at Warwick and is well related to juvenile winners at this trip. He is capable of more and with those runs a definite plus he can break his maiden tag here. Seeking An Alibi may well be a warm order depending on what has happened to the Godolphin runners earlier on the card at this point. The Storm Cat colt looks like being another Saeed Bin Suroor inmate that goes very well on debut and a saver on him looks well worth considering. Of the remainder, Luis Melendez ran well on debut at Kempton last month though he did not improve on that at Sandown last time and he may find that others have more scope in that regard, and one of them look to be Phi, who gets our vote.
