A year off the track and a step up in distance proved no problem for MANKINI at Newmarket earlier this month. The handicapper hasn't gone overboard with a 4lb rise and a follow-up looks likely as he's a lot less exposed than the majority of today's rivals. Maakirr has been placed in three starts on the all-weather but has never looked like winning while Laughing Jack has been off the track since failing to land a gamble at Yarmouth in April and is a pound higher here. Newnton Lodge deserves a mention, however, as he finally showed some form this year when second at Warwick and the extra distance might help.
