Verdict

The winning point-to-pointer and hunter chaser James was due to run at Navan yesterday. Paper Lantern and Tulpar battled out a finish at Fairyhouse a month ago with the former just prevailing. The runner-up is 2lb better off and can turn the tables though without troubling MR GOODENOUGH. The latter won this in great style a year again when Tulpar could only finish fourth. He bounced back after a very long break to finish a close third behind The Gatechecker at Naas in January and the winner is expected to go well in the previous race. Rachael Blackmore was on board for last year's success but takes the ride on Ballycahane here and though her mount was only just behind the selection at Naas he had a fitness advantage. The latter's yard is also represented by Skellig Rocks, who ran his best race to date over fences here in December.
