Verdict

ON THE FRINGE won this way back in 2011 and Salsify the following two years. Neither are veterans in the context of these races and it's the former who should have the edge this time despite narrow defeats in this behind top-class hunters Tammys Hill and Prince De Beauchene. His victories in the championship events at Cheltenham and Aintree last spring are the stand-out form here and though only a length in front of Noble Prince at Punchestown in May he had plenty in hand. Salsify has been well beaten in recent races but may not be finished yet though it's the relative youngster Two Rockers who is expected to prove the main threat. Adrian Maguire's charge has had his jumping problems but invariably manages to win when getting round though he's up against a pair of superb hunter chasers this time. Jim Culloty's It Came To Pass is a youngster with a future if his maiden hunter success at Limerick is anything to go by and he's one to note while Derek O'Connor will ensure the progressive B L Swagger gets a good ride.
