Verdict

Last year was the first in which three-year-olds were allowed to run and John Oxx has a very strong hand with the younger brigade today. Johnny Murtagh has the ride on TAKAR for the Aga Khan and he gets the vote despite a disappointing run in the 2000 Guineas at the Curragh. His earlier Listed success on soft ground there points to his obvious chance and he may just be too strong for Akeed Wafi, though the latter looked a nice prospect when landing a Gowran maiden in September and ran well enough on his reappearance in a Group 3 here to suggest he should have a good season. Banna Boirche looks best of the older horses as he was conceding a stone to Glor Na Mara when beaten a couple of lengths at the Curragh last month and meets him on level terms this time.
