    Verdict

Godolphin's BIRCHAM came here for his debut and started favourite for what looked a strong maiden. He was beaten by another Godolphin entry, Saeed Bin Suroor's Tha'Ir, but showed enough potential to suggest he would win next time out. The winner's yard is represented here by newcomer Honest Boy, like the selection a son of Dubawi but out of a more stoutly-bred mare. Opt Out has been a big disappointment so far, starting a short-priced favourite on both starts over 5f. The longer trip may bring about some improvement but this looks a tough race. Sir Mark Prescott doesn't send many juveniles here at this time of the year so Medicoe is one to note as are Tom Dascombe's Smooth Handle and the speedily-bred Red Cobra from an in-form yard.
