NJORD won the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on this day a year ago and, though unsuccessful subsequently, has been competing at the highest level including in the QEII last weekend when a respectable sixth behind Baaeed. Currrent Option finished just in front of him at Longchamp earlier but Jessica Harrington’s charge gets the nod this time. The latter was well beaten behind Snapraeterea in a Listed race at Cork in August though that wasn’t his form with the winner finding Group 2 company beyond him here last time. Carrytheone was well beaten when runner-up in a Tipperary Group 3 though wouldn’t have enjoyed the very testing conditions. Masen won a premier handicap here when giving 7lb to San Andreas and Ger Lyons’ charge is progressing rapidly and looks the main threat.
