In depth

Verdict

Willie Mullins won this two years ago and Renneti will attract support after his demolition job at Naas. He's been raised an astonishing 17lb but a 10lb claimer has been booked to alleviate the extra. Iain Jardine sends Nakeeta from Scotland and the five-year-old, who has been finding fast ground against him, was in excellent form on this sort of going at this time a year ago. Magic Circle travels from Hampshire and though beaten when favourite at Haydock has been in very good form for most of the summer. Mandatario is the only course and distance winner though that victory was on very fast going but Cradle Mountain enters the fray in good heart having followed his victory over hurdles at Tipperary with a very good run in the Irish Cesarewitch when he had the admirably consistent Swamp Fox just behind and Artful Artist and Jennies Jewel both close up. Manton-based handler George Baker is a brilliant placer of his horses so the presence of GUARD OF HONOUR here is intriguing. He hasn't run since second to Silver Concorde in this last year but wouldn't be travelling unless fully wound-up so he's taken to go one better.
