Verdict

FAUGHEEN has frightened the opposition away which is hardly surprising given his superb return to action in the Morgiana at Punchestown where he made all and won with his head in his chest. Beaten just once in 13 starts, the brilliant former champion should have a few problems gaining the ninth Grade 1 of his career. Willie Mullins is never afraid to take on one of his own, as Nichols Canyon proved when providing the selection's only defeat, and Cilaos Emery looks the best alternative after his victory in the Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown where he had much better fancied stable companion Melon in second. Gordon Elliott provides the remaining trio, all smart performers on their day with Campeador, who was chasing the selection at a safe distance when falling for the third time in four starts in the Morgiana, looking best of them.
