Verdict

Gordon Elliott had eleven entered at the early stage and has whittled them down to five. Davy Russell rides the stable's Floueur but he was beaten seven lengths by another from the yard in Death Duty in a Grand National trial at Punchestown in February. Hurricane Georgie easily won the Midlands National at Kilbeggan while Defi Bleu beat DONKEY YEARS narrowly at Fairyhouse but pulled up when that rival landed a Grade B handicap at Punchestown. Mark Walsh rides the latter for J P McNamara, who also owns the Joseph O'Brien pair at the top of the handicap with the 2020 Galway Plate winner Early Doors always capable of a big run while A Wave Of The Sea thrives in these big staying handicaps though he's 10lb higher than when runner-up in this last year. Ain't That A Shame has never won in just four starts over fences but has the potential to go on to better things.
