In depth

Verdict

Curragh Grey really found his feet on testing ground at Clonmel a couple of weeks ago and can go well despite a big rise in the weights and being out of the handicap. He had fallen on his two previous starts, the latter on this course when well in contention, and a quick double may not prove beyond him. However, BEAUTIFUL SOUND is unbeaten in three starts having won a maiden point and a hunter chase in 2007 and a handicap at Punchestown last month. Gordon Elliott's charge looked a potentially useful staying chaser in that latter race and, though the handicapper hit him with a 10lb rise, he is still on a fair mark. The five-year-old Rubi Light is progressing at a rate of knots and gained a comfortable success over two miles at Punchestown last month. He has no problems with today's trip having scored over 2m4f at Sligo previously but a 13lb rise gives him more to do. Carrigmartin is not out of this despite his fall at Fairyhouse as he looked in very good shape when scoring at Naas previously.
