In depth

Verdict

A wide open opener, with marginal preference being for WHOTSIT, who can get the better of Cardinal and Motor Home. Second in his last couple of outings, he returns to Lingfield where he has won before, although that was on the Polytrack. A drop down to seven furlongs looks a positive for Amy Weaver's gelding who likes to race with the pace, and he's at the right end of the weights. Cardinal, a son of Pivotal, is less exposed and ran a pleasing race on his handicap debut when runner up over six furlongs; the slight step up may help him. Motor Home is another who may prefer this trip than the mile he last ran at, but he won't want it too soft. His yard¿s in good form, but his draw is not the best. It's trappy little heat, but we'll side with Whotsit.
