led, ridden 2f out, headed inside final furlong, unable to quicken
keen, in touch, ridden, every chance from 1f out, stayed on close home
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, soon weakened
chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, stayed on same pace
close up, ridden 2f out, soon weakened
close up, ridden and every chance well over 1f out, weakened final furlong
towards rear, ridden and headway over 1f out, not reached leaders
towards rear, ridden and some headway on outside over 1f out, weakened final furlong
always prominent, ridden 2f out, kept on same pace
slowly into stride, towards rear, headway over 1f out, not reached leaders
slowly into stride, keen, held up, always in rear
keen, held up towards rear, ridden 2f out, kept on, never dangerous
Sounds Lucky is the pick to follow up his recent course win, with Jahangir, Firework and Bells Beach others to consider in an open contest. Sounds Lucky actually takes a drop in class, having won a seller on the course 11 days ago, and although that was over five furlongs, he has plenty of winning form over today's trip and so has leading claims. Jahangir has been fancied on a few occasions and was unlucky in a class F handicap when having to be snatched up in running early on. Bells Beach was also the victim of scrimmaging in that race, but had earlier made up for a luckless effort when scoring in lowly handicap company. This drop in grade will be a big help to both and they are on the short-list as well. Firework is yet another who has form over the track and trip and cannot be ruled out of calculations on his best form, while Pip's Song has the assistance of Lisa Jones. In the colours of Paul Dixon, Sounds Lucky gets the vote.
