Verdict

Porto Ferro landed a course and distance handicap at this level before finding a 3lb rise in a higher grade over the minimum too much to handle on a return visit. VEGAS BOY (NAP) only won a lady riders' handicap at Windsor by a short-head but his overall form in recent weeks suggests a 4lb rise isn't insurmountable and Nicola Currie was placed on him the previous twice. Anonymous John has won over this trip and further so he did well to keep tabs for so long over the minimum at Sandown and has to be a major threat. He holds Desert Fox on that run and Secret Potion was beaten a long way when runner-up at Bath so needs to raise his game.
