In depth

Verdict

ME JULIE may have escaped lightly and is taken to follow up at the main expense of Gunship and Mayeul. The selection only has 5lbs more to shoulder than when winning readily at Ffos Las from a fair yardstick. That was just the sixth start of her career and her first over fences so it's reasonable to assume that she's open to a fair amount of improvement and the jockey booking is a positive. Gunship was nibbled at in the market prior to his run at Taunton but he got no further than the second having dislodged the blinkers with a bad mistake at the first. He's on a decent mark and is at home under these conditions and can go well. The Hardy Boy may find that this trip stretches him whilst Sailor's Sovereign steps into new territory in terms of stamina so of more interest are Mayeul and Great Tsar. The latter hasn't had many chances for this yard but is another with his stamina to prove unlike Mayeul who has no worries on that score. The Pipe runner shaped with a little more promise at Wincanton but is still a maiden under both codes so he's overlooked in favour of Me Julie.
