Verdict

A small field but quite an interesting handicap; preference is for TARTAN GUNNA who checks all the boxes. Alexander Gulch doesn't looks especially well-treated off a mark of 85 and it may be that the handicapper has overestimated his Pontefract win in August. It may be that he will prefer this surface to Southwell where he was comfortably held a while back, but the feeling is that he looks vulnerable off 85. Instead then we side with Tartan Gunna who was a runaway winner in an average maiden at Wolverhampton last time. A mark of 73 for this handicap bow looks fair enough and with the stable in form she should run well. Rio Royale returns from two months off and this son of Captain Rio is another who needs to prove that he deserves his mark of 77, whilst Joannadarc needs to improve on what we have seen to date. Doncasoque was a winner off a mark of 77 three runs back but has struggled off his revised mark since and so it is Tartan Gunna who is nominated.
