In depth

Verdict

This is tougher than the claiming race Axel Jacklin won over track and trip in January when claimed from Mark Johnston’s yard. The latter runs handicap debutant Fiction Writer in this and he’s preferred to Fox Kasper, who made only a modest debut in handicaps with a sixth at Kempton. SHANGHAI GRACE is another handicapping for the first time after winning a novices race over today’s trip at Chelmsford and it’s Charlie Hills’ colt that gets the nod with an apprentice’s 7lb allowance helping his cause. Monsieur Piquer may prove best of the rest having his second start after wind surgery.
