Verdict

KING EDMUND, six times a winner over fences and in very good form recently without winning, has finished runner-up five times over hurdles and should finally get off the mark. The four-year-old Albert D'Olivate made a very encouraging racecourse debut behind Super Sam at Chepstow and though the form hasn't worked out he will have come on a bundle for the experience. Monksgold has shown ability but looks the type to be suited by a stiffer test, probably over fences. The remainder have shown little and will need to improve.
