In depth

Verdict

A wide open handicap and a small play is recommended on Cold Climate, Kensington and Marsad are also expected to run well. The Bob Jones trained ten-year-old is no back number, although he has obviously regressed since his hey day. At his best he was rated 68 so his current mark looks very handy indeed. He showed excellent form last time to finish a close up third behind Aintnecessarilyso at Warwick in October and if he can reproduce that running on the all-weather today he should go close. Kensington comes here chasing a hat-trick following victories at Ayr and here at Lingfield a couple of months ago. He has obviously gone up the weights but should still make his presence felt. Marsad made a belated all-weather debut here last month and ran a cracking race to finish runner up to Vlasta Weiner. He will have learnt from that experience and should be involved in the finish again today. I Wish and Scuba are two others worth considering for each-way purposes, but Cold Climate is the one that gets our speculative vote.
