      Verdict

DESERT LARK is one of the more obvious candidates in an open race where Sir Haydn and Golden Square could get into the mix. Jamie Spencer and Kevin Ryan have formed a profitable partnership this calendar year and it may be worth following them in this lowly affair. Desert Lark was unfortunate to bump into the gambled on Tusculum on his penultimate start and he followed that up with a respectable effort over a shorter trip at Wolverhampton. Desert Rat is worth a market check given that he is having his first run for a shrewd yard that is more than capable of having him ready to go close in this company. Sir Haydn boasts better recent form having finished half a length behind the selection at Kempton before filling the same spot at the same track ten days later. Golden Square is from a yard enjoying a good run and he comes into this race on the back of a couple of decent efforts which earn him his place on the short-list. Miss Understanding was another to show up well last time but we'll side with the Spencer/Ryan combination and go for Desert Lark.
