In depth

Verdict

It will be interesting to see how the market shapes for Peter Chapple-Hyam's newcomer Maria di Scozia but the daughter of Selkirk is not certain to stay this far on pedigree and she may be best watched on her debut with preference for Red Linnet, who gets the vote ahead of Always Bold. The last mentioned showed some promise on his debut here behind Pacifism and, with Mark Johnston's runners normally improving for their first start, there should be more to come. Dubai's Wonder was well held on his first start in a Newmarket maiden but there should be plenty of improvement from the Barry Hills-trained colt. Neither Tobago Bay nor Visconte make much appeal and preference is for Michael Bell's Red Linnet, who belied market odds when chasing home Electrolyser on her debut here earlier this month and, granted normal improvement for that run, it will take a good one to beat her.
