In depth

Verdict

Victory Design can improve on his Kempton introduction to beat Gamble of the Day, with Mansiya and Estrelle others to note. Victory Design shaped with promise on his debut at Kempton just over three weeks ago when third to Sir Michael Stoute's Alamiyan, with subsequent winner Stronghold ahead of him in second. That form sets the standard and he should prove hard to beat over this extra furlong. He already seems to be making a habit of bumping into Stoute inmates as he made his debut behind Echelon at Newmarket last year, and meets another Freemason Lodge runner in Gamble of the Day. This son of Cozzene took too keen a hold on his Newbury return and finished well down the field, so he needs to settle a lot better if he is to trouble the selection. Mansiya is having her first run of the season and is best watched, while the German-bred Estrelle makes her debut, and unlike the good old days at Warren Place when she probably would have been automatic favourite, she cannot be fancied unless the market says otherwise. Victory Design is the one to be on.
