    Verdict

Loyaliste and Scorn set the standard but both have had their chances and are taken on with ALBERTUS PICTOR. Unlike many from the yard, Sir Mark Prescott's gelding has attracted support on both maiden starts to date and connections will clearly be keen to win with him as soon as possible with paddock value in mind. On the evidence of a luckless second at Wolverhampton that victory could well come here, especially as 1m2f is certain to suit. Scorn represents last year's winning trainer and is respected but five second-placed finishes in 11 starts tells its own tale. Loyaliste is rather less exposed and stayed on well over a mile last time, suggesting this trip will prove ideal, and he's perhaps the biggest threat to Albertus Pictor although Mavalenta isn't discounted.
