In depth

Verdict

Karen's Caper put up an excellent first effort and should be capable of landing this contest from Mr Aitch and Registrar. John Gosden's filly chased home the Godolphin runner Happy as Larry over the seven furlong trip here a fortnight ago, going down by just over two lengths after losing plenty of ground at the start. That was an eyecatching performance and she can go one better today. Registrar improved from his Newmarket debut to run River Alhaarth close at Leicester last time and looks a big threat to the selection. Mr Aitch looked like a future winner when finishing a neck second to Speightstown at Windsor back in September and with normal improvement should provide more problems for our selection. Caper. Kinrande may prove best of the others, but if Karen's Caper can start on terms today she will be very hard to beat
