Verdict

Fit For Function won this race in 2018 though he’s been beaten by some sizeable distances ahead of this engagement. Pearl Palinka wasn’t disgraced at Cork on what was a softer surface but the eye is drawn to MICKEY THE STEEL (NAP) after the gelding went close last time out at the Curragh. Mogwli won an early season handicap at that venue though a 7lb rise has been enough to scupper subsequent efforts. Mercurial was a promising maiden for Tom Dascombe but he may need rain to be at his best while Talking Tough has performed creditably in the past and Declan McDonagh is an eye-catching jockey booking.
