Verdict

LISTOWEL FRIDAY 21/9 1.55 Jackemil was third to Jappeli over C&D on Monday, probably his best run so far, and had both Fast On and Mobiliser behind. He will be fancied to get off the mark in this less-competitive affair but we fancy SPEED DREAM will have his measure, though the Bellewstown winner will probably need luck in-running from stall one. Mt Weather's victory at Laytown doesn't amount to much but he at least arrives in form unlike many of these. 2.25 There probably isn't a great deal between PLACE VENDOME and Zalantoun on the form book but we just fancy the Ballydoyle colt to pick off his likely market rival back over this longer trip as he probably still has a bit of scope whereas John Oxx's charge has had plenty of chances and was already beaten when hampered at Tramore last time. Pageboy has won twice over hurdles since his last run on the Flat and looks the pick of the remainder as Brinestine has become disappointing and Index Linked returns from a break. 2.55 Purple finally got off the mark when dropped in trip at Killarney earlier this month but he's already been beaten twice off similar marks in handicaps and we prefer MATJAR. He's only won once on Turf so far but ran Van Rooney to a neck over 1m at Killarney on his latest start and is probably still on a decent mark. Clonmel third Our Breff could be open to further improvement but Curl Cat usually finds at least one too good and both Gumption and Love Nest disappointed last time. Gowran winner Shifting is tried in blinkers after finishing third at Ballinrobe and makes more appeal than If Per Chance of the others. 3.30 This could be too tough for Parkers Mill and Inis Meain so Barack, third in a Listed race at Killarney last month, and Bold Thady Quill look the pick of the older horses here. The latter had Sadler's Mark behind when runner-up in last month's Cambridgeshire at the Curragh but there are a host of largely unexposed three-year-olds facing the starter including Triumphant, Fatcatinthehat and Truthwillsetufree. Our Connor has been well backed in both starts since winning at Naas in June but there's a good chance that ONE FINE DAY will appreciate having her sights lowered and she gets the nod. She wasn't disgraced in a Listed race over 7f at Tipperary last month and won twice over 1m on heavy ground earlier in the summer. Jessica Harrington's filly looks to have a good draw here. 4.05 Wellforth makes a swift reappearance after fading close home in the Kerry National on Wednesday but will struggle to give weight to his four rivals. Last year's winner FINGER ONTHE PULSE may still have enough ability to end the winning run of Kalellshan. Tom Taaffe's 11-year-old was far from disgraced on his latest start at Galway and generally competes at a higher level. Kalellshan has done nothing wrong, however, though this will be his first appearance on genuinely heavy ground while Northern Alliance will probably need this. Shakervilz was only beaten half-a-length over 3m at Kilbeggan on his reappearance and will strip fitter here, though has a little bit to find on official ratings. Dara Tango was a leading fancy for yesterday's Guinness Handicap Hurdle so his participation here must be in doubt and we'll stick with the in-form PRIMROSEANDBLUE. The drop in trip is a slight concern but Patrick Mullins has been on board the gelding for all four of his wins and will know how to get the best out of him. He is 4lb better off than when beaten a length by Run With The Wind at Ballinrobe in May, though the latter has been highly tried in his last two runs. Top Madam only beat one home here on Wednesday while bumper winner Darwins Theory and newcomer Stillwater Cove may just the need the experience.
