In depth

Verdict

There are better races later on, but a winner is a winner and Martin Pipe's A Vendre should be up to the task in this lowly company. For a horse who did not see the racecourse until July, the son of Kendoe has been kept extremely busy, running 12 times in all. He was highly tried by his former trainer Clive Brittain, debuting behind Spinette at Newmarket and running in Listed company behind Where Or When at Goodwood. Martin Pipe obviously liked what he saw of the three-year-old at Leicester in the summer as promptly bought the winner, Dudley's Delight and A Vendre who was third. The latter has enjoyed more success of late, but A Vendre can only improve on his first outing outing over hurdles when fourth at Taunton. The first time visor did not seem to help and the aid is now left off. Magical Day has threatened to win in this grade for some time but seems to find little off the bridle, while Tuscarora needs to settle better than she did on her Catterick debut. That was in claiming company however, and she should be there or thereabouts. The main danger is likely to be Misbehaviour who carries a penalty for his win over the selection at Taunton, but the turnaround in the weights give A Vendre an ideal opportunity.
