Verdict

Seymour Weld is selected at the expense of Norman Beckett and Young Tot. The 135 rated chaser would be much worse off if this were a handicap and while he was probably flying a little too high in the Summer Plate, this is an obvious chance to gain compensation especially as his better performances have obtained with small fields. Norman Beckett is a quirky character. He is entitled to finish second if putting in a clear round. Young Tot has placed in Hunter Chases. Whether professional handling makes any difference is another matter but his rules form was decidedly moderate in the past. Sycho Fred and Government have stones to find on official ratings and they really shouldn't be good enough. Seymour Weld looks impossible to oppose granted a clear round.
