Ela Re takes a step into handicap company and can continue his progress to score from Tango Royal and Showpiece. Richard Johnson gets on well with the selection, having ridden him to course and distance success last month. With sound underfoot conditions again the gelding can continue his progress off a fair mark and land this prize, though he wouldn't want the ground to get too quick. Martin Pipe sends up Tango Royal, who took advantage of a tumble down the weights to land a handicap at Stratford last time. Upped 6lb as a result, this will be tougher but he should be thereabouts. Showpiece has been in great form in novices' company lately and Charlie Egerton also tries him against the handicappers. Another good run is expected here given his shrewd connections and he can push for a place, while top weight Edmo Heights, Rigmarole and course specialist Ei Ei also merit plenty of respect. But Ela Re can make a successful handicap debut.
