A competitive renewal but ALDRETH (NAP), who beat Gabrial The Duke by more than four lengths in this last year with Full Day and Pass Muster further behind, looks to have been primed for a repeat off only 2lb higher. He was beaten by Impulsive American over 1m6f here last Saturday but is 6lb better off and the return to two miles will suit. Sweet Selection got back to winning ways at Nottingham but is now on a career-high mark. Sisyphus likes it here, however, and should be thereabouts again but Jan Smuts and Stormin Tom might struggle to confirm Ripon running with the selection on revised terms. Almost Gemini needs soft going and a longer trip but course winner Hillgrove Angel is not out of this if lasting home.
